The legendary cattle industry originated in the Texas Coastal Bend. The years of 1845-1929 were a time of remarkable change in the land, the stock, and the people of the ranching trade.
Cattle Boom! tells the story of ranching families, cattle drives and ranching culture through artifacts, historical photographs, doucments and maps from regional collections. This online collection of historical photographs from families in Victoria and the surrounding region was funded by a grant from the Institute of Museum and Library Services and the Texas State Library and Archives Commission. It was developed as a companion to Cattle Boom! Ranching in Victoria and the Coastal Bend, 1845-1929, an exclusive exhibit at that was on display at the Museum of the Coastal Bend.
